National Junior Honor Society is comprised of eighth grade students that have demonstrated abilities and accomplishments in five areas: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. Initial identification of potential members is based upon the student’s academic performance which requires students to maintain a minimum grade point average of 90 percent for the current and previous school years. All candidates are evaluated by a Faculty Council consisting of five middle school teachers. Students are then inducted in May to serve the following school year.
Since National Junior Honor Society is a service based organization, the students are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of community service.
